We’re ready with a first beta of Views 1.6.1. This beta includes major improvements to the custom search functionality.

AJAX Updates for Search Results

You probably want to make searching as easy and fast as possible on your sites. Views 1.6.1 allows to update the results immediately, as filter inputs update.

Dependent Values for Custom Searches Improved

The greatest feature recently added to Views is the ability to limit the options of filter inputs according to the available results. Views 1.6.1 improves this by supporting many more cases, which are needed for real sites.

Now, you will be able to limit range inputs (from – to values), any post relationship hierarchy, checkboxes and radio inputs. What was working with basic functionality in Views 1.6 is working smoothly for complex sites in Views 1.6.1.

Download Views 1.6.1 Beta

Views 1.6.1 is going into QA now and will be ready for production release early next week. In the meanwhile, if you can install it on development sites, we would very much appreciate your feedback. To download, log in to your wp-types.com account, click on Downloads, scroll to the bottom and you’ll see Views beta.

We tried really hard and we cannot break the custom search feature anymore. A big kudus to anyone who reports a bug and helps us improve Views. If you find anything, please report it in our technical forum. For questions, suggestions and ideas, post your comments here.
