Layouts 1.8.3 Fixes Rendering Issues Introduced With The 1.8 Version

August 30, 2016

Dear Layouts users, Riccardo here, Lead Developer for Toolset!

In the latest release we’ve introduced a bunch of new features for the Layouts plugin. These features needed some big changes in the front-end rendering. Unfortunately, these changes introduced a bug in the class names for Bootstrap row elements, causing wrong margins to appear, particularly in full-width rows and columns.

We addressed this problem with the 1.8.2 patch release, but unfortunately the fix didn’t cover all the possible cases. After attentive review of the code and thorough tests of latest changes, we have now implemented a fix that is bringing back the exact same rendering and the exact same class names that we had before. With the Layouts 1.8.3 upcoming release, only “.row” class name will be present for row elements.

The release is ready and will be out between today and tomorrow, as soon as we finish the necessary QA tests.

Additionally, next major release will introduce a GUI control to allow you to assign or remove the “15px” margins to container elements. This way, you will gain more control over this important rendering feature and give you full freedom with the most of simplicity.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for your understanding!
Riccardo Strobbia

    • Right now there’s no support in this in Toolset, but it’s a very good idea for an upgrade. Select2 is a good option in case there are many many options. This is a significant change, so we can’t include it in a minor upcoming version. I’ll add to our wishlist.
