The WPBakery and Toolset teams worked hand-in-hand to create a solution that makes it really easy to build sites based on custom posttypes. To enjoy the integration with Toolset, make sure that you are using the 5.4 version of the WPBakery Page Builder.

What’s new and what do we mean by integration?

This integration provides you with the following top features:

  • Build templates for custom post types and WooCommerce Product using the WPBakery Page Builder
  • Build templates for WordPress Archives and WooCommerce Shop Page using the WPBakery Page Builder.
  • Use Toolset shortcodes and custom fields in any Elements of the Page Builder (including button and URLs)

Build templates for custom post types using the WPBakery Page Builder

Integrated with Toolset, you can use the WPBakery Page Builder to design one template for all of your custom post types. Simply insert any custom fields and Toolset shortcodes in any building blocks elements:

In our example, this is how the template for a custom post types “Tour” looks like:

We have built one template for all “Tour” posts. Each tour will have the same design but will output its own information from the custom fields:

Use WPBakery Page Builder to design WordPress Archive Pages and WooCommerce Shop Page

Toolset allows you to customize WordPress archive pages, and WPBakery Page Builder (formerly Visual Composer) allows you to design the way individual posts are listed on them. Simply launch the WPBakery Page Builder when you edit the content template, as shown below:

On the front-end, you’ll see that your Archive page is displayed according to the template you just designed:

This process also works for the WooCommerce Shop Page, where you can decide on the number of columns and how you want to display your products. Clients may ask you to to completely redesign the Shop Page using custom fields, building blocks, accordion, tabs and any other specific information related to the online business. Thanks to Toolset and WPBakery Page Builder, this is pretty straightforward. No PHP code is needed and again, you can use the building elements with any custom fields:

Thanks to the integration, you can now build list of custom post types and design each post entry with the WPBakery Page Builder:

We have created an in-depth documentation to follow if you want to learn how to build advanced sites with Toolset and WPBakery Page Builder.

If you need assistance with using Toolset in combination with WPBakery Page Builder, please visit our professional support forum dedicated to this topic.

Are you using a theme bundled with the WPBakery Page Builder?

If the theme you are using is bundled with WPBakery Page Builder we are happy to work with the theme author to develop a tighter integration. This includes controlling the theme options for custom types or archive templates that you design. Since themes always come with their own building blocks, we can also make sure that the shortcodes will work with these custom elements.

Let us know which theme you are using in the comments. We’ll be happy to ask the authors to join our  “Beyond Pages” compatibility program.

    • Hello! Ultimatum offer themes coming with their own drag-and-drop page builder as well as Visual Composer, am I correct?
The theme looks like a good candidate for a tighter integration and controlling the theme options. Do you have any personal contacts there I could reach out to?
Otherwise, feel free to drop them a message in their support saying that I’ll be in touch soon. Thank you!

    • I don’t want to spoil anything but we are in touch with them for the integration with Cornerstone and for controlling options of X and Pro. Stay tuned 🙂

  1. Jupiter Theme from Artbees. It´s still not possible to create Archives. I was asking some time ago about the integration with Toolset. Do you already cooperate with them?

    • Hello! Our testers could replicate the same issue you found. Jupiter customized the Page Builder quite a lot and our developers are running a few tests right now.
I’ve not been in touch with Artbees yet, but of course they are on the list. Do you know anyone there, you could introduce me to? Otherwise, even a short message in their support confirming your interest in Toolset integration may help. I’ll update you in the comments as soon as my developers find something. Thanks for your feedback.

      • Thanks, Guys, this is Mohsen from Artbees support team. I would be happy to be in touch with you to know more about the possible issues and collaborate to fix them as soon as possible. Please feel free to contact me directly via the email in the comment form. Thank you very much!

        • Thanks Mohsen for joining here. I appreciate your involvement and Marine will be in touch to see how we can resolve the glitches together.

    • Hello, it’s a perfect timing as we are currently internally testing it with Toolset. Do you know which theme options you would like to see controlled by Toolset when you create a template?
      Thanks a lot.

        • I have just created a custom post type. In Total, there are options available for the build in custom post types (staff, portfolio, testimonials) that determine whether and in what order elements of the post appear, such as title, body, featured media, meta etc. This option is not available for custom post types. When I create a template in Toolset, it seems to go where the body of the post would go and the other elements appear in their default settings. It’s a bit hard too explain but I could do a screen capture if required.

          • Hello! Thanks for following up. I’m asking my colleague to replicate the issues you explained above, she may be in touch today or tomorrow with some questions. Can we use the email you used to comment, to reach you? Let me know, thanks 🙂

Just so you know, I’ve tried to contact WPExplorer team for a partnership but I haven’t got any replies yet. It may help if you drop them a line too.

            Marine

          • Just a quick update here. This is an “expected” behaviour from any theme that is not Toolset-integrated. If you want to control the theme options on CPT’s, we will need the cooperation of Total’s theme author. Have you contacted them yet about Toolset integration? On my side, I’ve sent another email today.

  2. JUPITER THEME from Artbees please! Since they have customized the WP Bakery VC and made an own version out of it, Toolset is not really / fully compatible, especially when using Toolset Views.

    • Hello, I’ll definitively be in touch with Artbees ASAP in order to improve the integration, thanks for your feedback.
Do you know anyone there I could reach out directly? Many thanks.

      • Hi Marine,
this is great news + highly appreciated, thanks!
With our issues I had to use their support system when facing these problems; unfortunately the ticket there has been closed and deleted.
All I know is that I was communicating with “Tatyana” there.
However, I can forward you the email-trail, if needed.

        • You are welcome, we understand how convenient it is to use your favorite builder when you need to develop advanced sites with Toolset.
I’ve sent another email to them explaining the situation, maybe they’ll be interested this time. I just sent you an email, then you can forward the thread to me.
I’d like to see which kind of issues you have been experiencing. Thanks a lot.

    • You are welcome! We worked closely with the WPBakery team to achieve those results so we are happy you like it!

  3. I do not understand. Integration of Toolset with Visual Composer has been around for a long time. What changed?
