[Resolved] Can’t import CSV using CSV Importer or CSV Importer Improved

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
Posts were not being imported from a CSV file as expected

Solution:
The file format needed modifying so that the standard WordPress columns were listed first and custom fields listed after.

This was using the CSV Importer plugin.

I am trying to: Import data from a CSV into my CPT

I visited this URL:https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/how-to-import-content-into-wordpress-using-csv/

I expected to see:My data get imported successfully

Instead, I got: Imported 0 posts and 0 comments in 0.00 seconds.

Hi Jeff

It sounds like you have a problem with how you have formatted your CSV file and headings.

It is not really a Toolset issue, but I don't mind taking a look for you.

Why don't you upload your csv file somewhere like dropbox or Google drive and share the link with me? I'll mark your next reply as private so that only I see the link (you can ignore the template asking for your WordPress site credentials).

Hi Jeff

I re-ordered the columns so that you had all the standard WP fields first then your custom fields (matching the order shown in the sample.csv file in the examples folder of the csv importer plugin) and tried again and it worked.

I didn't notice that documented anyway, but testing that it seems to resolve the problem, if you want to give it a try.

Nigel,

Nope. I redid the columns like in sample csv and.....nothing.

Still won't import. So can you upload the file you created and I'll see if I can import it?

Because I'm starting to think the CSV file isn't the real problem.....

Hi Jeff

I re-imported the file to be double-sure, and it did work.

Here it is: hidden link

Cool. It worked. Let me use that in Excel as the base for all the other data and see if it takes. Thank you.
